About
The story behind Altered Course
It started with one mom who decided to change course. Today it's a place where families from Sussex County and nearby Pennsylvania and New York find more opportunities for their kids and more connection for themselves.

Hi, I'm Lizzie.
Before Altered Course was a place, it was a change of plans. Here's how my own course got altered.
For over 18 years I worked as a hairstylist, building a career in the salon and freelancing for events.
After the pandemic, I knew I needed a change. I wanted to be more present in my children's lives, so I chose to homeschool.
With two friends, I started a nonprofit homeschool co-op that now serves more than 35 local families.
And that change of course led somewhere new.
Then I noticed a gap.
The more involved I got in our local community, the clearer it became. People crave connection, and they want more options to enrich their lives.
Altered Course was born from that need: one place where kids and adults can find fun, creativity and community. Whether it's a class, an enrichment workshop or a party, our mission is to give you room to explore your interests and connect with the people around you.
Room to explore. Time to grow.
A place for moms to come back to what they love
So many moms step away from a passion or a career to raise their kids. I wanted to give them somewhere to return to it, on their own terms.
Share a skill or passion, earn extra income and make your own hours, so you can find the balance that's the right fit for your family.
Local business owners can expand here with a satellite location and reach new families in our area.
More than a venue
